**SPOILER ALERT BELOW**

Okay maybe I'm a prude but there was more sex in this book than storyline. The two main characters are Stephanie & Linden. They are best friends and have known each other for nine years before they admit to each other how they really feel for each other. The overall outline of this book is great, just too much drama, too much sex (I don't mind a book with sex but this book is literally about SEX, SEX,SEX!) and not enough epic love for me. It was missing the romance aspect in my opinion. I dont like how they hide their relationship from their friends either, not a great way to start a relationship. The thing I do like about this book is the fact that Stephanie & Linden are best friends and know each other really well before they go to that next level of their relationship. Just too much casual sex in this book, but I am glad they found love.

During drunken self reflection Best friends Stephanie Robson and Linden McGregor make a pact to marry each other if they don't have a very serious relationship at age 30. It was said in jest, but then again it wasn't.
It was evident very early on in the novel that Stephanie and Linden were attracted to each other. The problem was that Stephanie had been involved with James, the third wheel, member of the group.

Steph and Linden begin the journey to find true love and settle down but after every failed relationship, they circle back to each other. The story brought back the age old debate we used to have in college "Can single women and men be friends, and nothing more?"

I was amazed at how these three best friends constantly lied and hid things from each other. Just a little honest communication would have made all the difference to all three. In addition, there was a fair amount of resentment and envy, which made the friends appear more frenemies than best friends.

The book was just okay but I didn't like any of the friends because I felt they weren't really as close as they professed. Trust and loyalty was an issue here and they knew they were being selfish because each friend kept their actions secret. It's like a When Harry met Sally mixed with Friends book, except the characters had the maturity of 18-21 year old college kids.

I will say that the narrator did a good job and I am glad things were resolved in the end. This book is similar in vein to the author's other work so fans of her other books will enjoy this book the same.
I may try Linden's brother's book before I decide on the series.

**Special Thanks to Tantor Audio for the audiobook given in exchange for an honest review.

"So, do you want to get married?"

This reminds me of the pact I made with my own best friend (who also happens to be an ex boyfriend but we cool) that if both of us are still single by thirty we would marry each other.

Alas, dude's happily engaged now and I love him truly like a brother (none of this sexual tension Linden and Steph has) so even the mere thought of marrying him now is like eurgh.

Also, I think we were both joking at the time; I doubt he even remembered it.

Anyway.

THIS ONE IS SO GOOD GUYS GAH I'M GUSHING. I love Steph to bits; I can definitely relate to her. She's so awesome and funny and just badass. And Linden was GAH. I WANT A LINDEN. I love their friendship, and I love James too (even though he could be a real pain in the ass) and Steph's girlfriends.

Petition for Karina Halle to write more CRs.

Review

I'm not sure about this book, I enjoyed it but most of the time I was just angry with the MC's.
Lying is bad, lying to your best friends is even worse, and this book is just based on lies.
Stephanie is best friends with James and Lindon, she had a thing once with James but it didn't really work out and they have been best friends ever since, there are no feelings there....at her end.
She has a bit of a crush on Lindon but there are no feelings at his end for her......or so she thinks!

One pinky swear later about getting married when they are 30 if they are both still single, and the sh*t hits the fan.

I absolutely loved Linden and Steph's story! It was a beautiful progress and ended just as it should!
As Steph said:
"This man is larger than life. He is my life. He is my Linden" Yeeees, swooning over the love!
I'm a sucker for romance.

The Pact is a friend to lover romance. I usually do not like this trope. I am more enemy to lover fan. Miss Halle changed my mind with this book.
The Pact is not just sloppy, cheesy romance. It has so many emotional baggage on it and I enjoyed every minute listening to the audiobook.

I think Linden easy going and fun banter what saved the story. I enjoyed his POV very much. He is such a mama boy. His chemistry with Stephanie is off the chart. Even while they still friend. How they can finished each other train of thought made me jealous of wanting that kind of BFF. Stephanie is a heroine who always putting 'everything OK' face but deep down she is lonely.

The writing is superb. The Pact proven how talented Miss Halle is.

Hot, steamy, and all around a good read.
