I can't find this on Amazon... Am I missing something??

This was okay. I enjoyed the story of best friends forbidden to be in love but I felt like it was dragged so much. The plot line of having The Pact was great but I really wish it hadn’t dragged on so much.

This might be my new favorite Halle book. Since Dex and Perry have lots of books together, they have more time for me to live them and remain my favorite couple, but Linden and Stephanie are a close second. This is a great love story, and although it's out of the box for Halle, still has that raw, gritty emotion she is known for. I need a Linden inn my life!

3.5 stars

Loved the premise a lot, but I almost DNF'd when Linden put his best friend's feelings before his relationship with Stephanie. Nope. Not going there. The story was redeemed in the end, but I'm still not happy with that particular turn of events. I suspect this will not be a re-read for me, but it won't keep me from reading more books from Halle.

A sweet friends to lovers story for two 20 something year olds who make a pact to marry at 30

+Linden was the perfect ratio of asshole:cocky:sweet
+Good use of time jumps
+Fantastic writing style - I couldn't stop devouring this

-James fell flat when his character could have been more redeeming

Linden is making in to my book boyfriend list for his unexpected remarks, his smartass comments, a strong desire to protect what's his, and for not giving up on his family even though they burned him too many times.

4.5 - The perfect easy read! While still emotional at times, Steph and Linden were easy to love, and I started rooting for them from page one. Written while Halle was on vacation, THE PACT tells the story of two friends and their journey to the realization that there is no better partner in life than your best friend.

Of course there would be no story to tell if Linden and Stephanie realized it right away, now would there? At 25 they make a pact that, at 30, if neither of them are in a serious relationship they were going to get married. While it is pretty easy to determine if this story has an HEA (happily ever after) or not, it takes a few unexpected roads before you get to the end.

There are many other reviews that wax poetic about Linden ... mmmm, Linden ... so while as yummy as he is, I want to focus on Stephanie. Our female lead is a wonderfully strong yet surprisingly vulnerable character. I think many of us could find something to relate with in her. She can hang with the guys like the best of them, yet her femininity is never in question. Her hair changes colors almost as often as some of us change diet programs, but that makes her unique and fun.

There are some parts that made me angry, but rather than put the book down I kept reading late into the night, because I needed to see how things resolved. And oh boy, let me tell you ... or not. I am not going to ruin that! What kind of person do you take me for?! ;-)

If you like sweet friends to lovers stories, growing up with characters, learning with characters how to overcome obstacles big and small to make relationships work, and sexy Scottish immigrants (ok, I went there) then THE PACT is certainly for you!

Very quick read. It was great to have older protagonists! Good New Adult Romance.

It started promising but unfortunately quickly turned into a generic mess.
