The ending surprised me. Long build up, but worth it.

I felt really weird about a lot of things that happened. Tallie was very unprofessional to me. I understand that Emmett/Rye isn’t her client, but she kept referring to him as one in her head. Despite this, she still kiss him and had small intimate moments with him. That’s really gross and weird to me.

This book was really well-written, though. Cross-Smith wrote a heavy and beautiful story. Tallie was just weird.

This was entertaining and problematic, like a Lifetime movie. There are secrets, romance, fires, secret identities, hospitals, and more.

Cross-Smith writes well, but I feel like I was tricked into reading a Christian light novel.

Also, the romance aspect should have been removed from the book. Tallie meets Emmett while he is attempting suicide and doesn't reveal that she is a therapist. Still, she uses therapy techniques in their conversations while also lusting after him.

Lastly, there were so many art pieces referenced that I felt like I needed an art history course to keep up. I did a lot of googling while reading this. That may be just a me thing, though.

HP mentioned but also a whole scene going on about the joy of HP combined with questionable therapist ethics.
