Tallie  was a bit too earnest, girly and straightforward for my liking, especially compared to Emmett. The ending was strong, though, and brought my rating up from a 3.

I chose this as my Book of the Month selection for December. This novel has heart and pathos galore. It's the story of Tallie, a therapist fresh out of a painful divorce and Emmett, a man on the verge of suicide on a bridge. Tallie stops her car and convinces Emmett to get in with her. What follows is a long weekend of healing connection in which they both get some human medicine from each other. There are secrets withheld though, on both sides. Will those secrets undo their mutual progress when they're finally revealed? It's a thoughtful tale with a hopeful message.
