Yeah, this series was amazing. I believe there's a fourth book coming out but I'm guessing it's going to be based on different characters considering the random chapters we got from Thorn and Robyn in this book. This brings me to their chapters in this book. Completely irrelevant and to be honest, this author should have come out with some kind of novella or bridging book or even included these characters earlier on because their chapters completely broke the pacing of the book which had been great in the previous two.
However, the story was great and I liked the way it ended. The build-up wasn't as great as the previous two but I did appreciate the direction the author went in and I really liked the development of our side characters more than our main ones in this. Briggs is so cute and Brine's developing likeness for Tempest was sweet.
I will say, half of this book is Tempest being hurt and being in bed which kind of irritated me considering the emphasis the previous books have had on all the training she has. She defeated a lion for god sake and some of the situations she ended up in was more like the result of me trying to fight rather than her.
But, I definitely recommend this series if you're looking for a more light fantasy, romantic read. I finished these three books in two days because I literally could not put them down and that's saying something!

3 stars…
I know the epilogue wasn’t supposed to be funny but the 14 yr-old, werewolf & wattpad obsessed teenage girl in me is absolutely losing it rn
”‘You’re mine now,’ he bit out. ‘Mine.’”
pffffffffffff- it’s not funny. I’m definitely not laughing. Shut up.
This was chill. Kinda annoying that we got POV’s from two new characters with no pay off (at least not in this installment. I’m assuming they’ll be more involved in the 4th book), but I don’t have much to criticize besides that, apart from the pacing. I had to push myself a bit to get through this.
Temp’s uncles are precious. I can’t believe I forgot about Brine, cause he’s such a sweetheart. I wanna be Ansette’s best friend.
Yep. Solid rainy day read (which it was. It was raining all day)

All hail the queen! The Heir by Frost Kay is the final book in her series Twisted Kingdoms, or at least the final story featuring the Jester and Tempest. There will be more stories set in this world which I’m all kinds of excited to read. In this finale, Tempest finds herself at the center of the plot against the king. Walking a fine line between love and hate, she must determine which side to fight on and what her role will be.
Tempest is one of my favorite heroines. She is cunning, brave, stubborn to a fault, and loyal above all else. She risks her life time and again for her chosen family, her friends, and even those she doesn’t know but feels responsible for. At the end of the last book, she felt betrayed by the Jester and her Hounds, and for the first time in our story, Tempest seems lost and unsure of what her next moves should be. It was interesting twist to see Tempest so unsure here. Her path has been certain up to this point, and shaking things up for her adds depth to her story as well as forces her to trust the people who have always had her back, even when she didn’t realize it.
The Jester has dropped all his tricks and the wall of iron he built around himself. Kay dropped a big twist in the story at the end of the last book which explains SO much about the Jester. I already liked this character, but I fell in love with him during this book. He shows vulnerability and his true self to Tempest, and like I said, I fell in love…hard.
The plot focuses on the coming war. As the King’s betrothed, Tempest finds herself at the center. She’s already chosen the side she is fighting for, but the question remains can she do it. She is in a dangerous position, at the right hand of the king. She is both positioned perfectly to execute him, but also the first to be suspected when anything bad happens. Fast paced, action packed, and full of surprises, I was engrossed from page one to the end.
Overall I really enjoyed The Heir. How Kay ties up all the loose ends and answers questions while also setting up the next story in this world is masterful. If you are a fan of enemy to lovers and edge of your seat fantasy, I highly recommend it.

The Heir is Frost Kay's third installment in her Snow White Retelling in her Twisted Kingdoms series. When I first started this series I was thrilled to be reading it because I absolutely LOVE retellings and how authors take familiar stories and give them a unique twist. This series started out with a lot of promise, but then just...drops away... Was kinda disappointed, but there is a HEA with this book, so for those hoping for/looking for that...you get it. Which is a good thing at the end of the day.
The Heir starts out with some new characters which pique my interest immediately and then it shifts back to the familiars that we have come to know throughout the series. Tempest has agreed to the King's demands and now...things are getting even more dangerous. To be expected of course. War is looming. The King is intent on this course of action because he wants all the control and all the power and lives must be sacrificed in the process of it all. He doesn't care who. This book is engaging, and I read through it eagerly, but there are several instances in this book that I couldn't help but frown at and think..." wait...what?"
One thing that I just don't like and will ALWAYS complain about is when things go too easy or too much in favor of the main character/good guys. It's not right. So whenever Tempest is "sneaking" away and no one notices that she's been gone when she's supposed to be doing something else and no explanation is asked of her...it annoys me. It's basically saying that there isn't any real danger to her or that she can move about with no fear when the King has already shown he's unstable and willing to kill. I really needed more balance in this book and less of so much being in Tempest's favor. I know it's fiction, but there should still be some believability to the story as well.
I truly have enjoyed this series, I just wish that certain aspects weren't so heavy in certain characters' favor. Build on the drama, don't shut it down. I do wish that there had been a bit more drama, romance, and some more steamy, but since this book is targeted more toward teens I can understand why it's written the way that it is. So I am choosing to rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. It has good moments, I just wish that there were more. Things not totally adding up or making sense are what caused me to drop a star. I am looking forward to the next book.

This book was a thrilling adventure! This series gets better and better with each book. The author writes such a way that her words suck you in, and you find an amazing journey that you ever want to leave..
I feel so stupid that I didn’t catch it was a Snow White retelling. The seven “dwarves”, the apple, the coma.
running thoughts I had during this book:
It’s always hard introducing a new POV in a book series. You grow attached to the older characters and are quick to dismiss the new ones. Starting the book on a new character made me put it down half a dozen times.
Brine keeps calling her “pup”. I swear if he dies I’ll lose it.
“Being born a woman was the bane of her existence.” Thorn is a big mood.
The slow burn was worth it for this exact moment.
““Sleep, love. I’ll be here when you wake.” His fingers skimmed her cheek. She clutched at his hand. “Don’t let me fade away.” “Never,” he whispered fiercely.”

Omg this is such a slow burn, but it’s well worth it. Pyre and Tempest are a perfect match — I don’t think there was anyone else who could match them for stubbornness and sense of duty.
I wanted to give it five, but it felt like Frost Kay was refusing to treat it like a real war by not having anyone important to the mc get injured or killed in the fighting. It’s a war. The longer I read, the more I felt it was building up to a huge heart wrenching battle where she lost a close friend, her dad, pyre, etc. But nothing. It just felt too tidy seeing as it’s a war and the King is so bloodthirsty and vengeful. We hear about two deaths AFTER the battle and not even right after either. Really takes the sting away from it.
WHERE IS MY EMOTIONAL DAMAGE AT KAY?!
A minor complaint is there’s a minor character who gets a chapter or two and goes undercover Mulan style to fight in her dad’s place. And then she just disappears entirely from the story. It felt like she was going to be a bigger part of the end of the book and the fighting, but there was no sign of her. Why bother including her if you’re not going to bring her in later?
And minimal signs of the character the books starts out with too (Thorn), but I can see her coming up again in the next book.
I loved the book, but those things irked the crap out of me.
