This book is really enjoyable. I liked it less than book one, I think. And I don't like the Mistborn Series as much as I like the Stormlight Archive. I think you can see Sanderson's growth as a writer in between the series. Definitely worth a read though, I think, if you enjoy Sanderson. There are some parts that feel a little juvenile, and I almost feel like I can see the Mormon writing this book and trying to keep everything clean. Maybe that's not a fair judgment though, since I don't know I would judge the book by that if I didn't know that tidbit about the author. Can't expect every book to have GOT and World Without End openness.

His story is good. He has a few big surprises in every book that I never see coming. In this book the world continues about two years from the ending of book one. The Lord Ruler was overthrown, but life continues on, and not easily. The remaining Lords in the Dominances are all vying for the throne and the city of Luthadel. Elend was made king after the whole overthrow with the Skaa, but most don't seem to take him very seriously at first; his sloppy persona and unconfident manner do little to inspire. So this book deals mainly with them dealing with the approach of three separate armies coming towards Luthadel, assassins galore, traitors, a larger threat that seems to be looming around the Well of Ascension, etc.

My biggest surprise was when OerSeur turned out to be the hidden spy in the city. I never suspected it for a moment, but it made complete sense. Vin is a little more annoying in this book, I thought. She is struggling with a few issues of whether or not she and Elend really ought to be together, if they are even alike enough to work, struggling with newfound power from Duralumin, and struggling with taking the fate of the people in all the Dominances on her shoulders. I can't fault her for being weak and a little bit irrational at times, I suppose, what with how young she is and what with the responsibility that she's taken upon herself.

I enjoyed the book, Sanderson writes good fantasy. His magic and worlds are unique and I have really been enjoying his writing.
