I have zero idea why this book deserves anything less than the full five stars. I love the original and there is obviously respect and research involved in this sequel. Details that tie not only the original Peter Pan story but other bits of J.M. Barrie's creations to this one. Author is wonderful with spinning words together to create surprising, quirky sentences. LOVED IT! As did my 12 and 15 year olds.
This had way more of a gender-bending turn than I expected it to, which is not a complaint.
Magic is leaking out of Neverland. Wendy and the Lost Boys must find a way to escape their grown-up lives and return to find Peter Pan. When they do, they find the perpetual days of summer have turned into autumn and Peter is all by himself. This is billed as "the first ever authorized sequel to J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan" and is well-written, intriguing and original.
I read this book when I was a kid, around 10 or 11. Peter Pan was always my favorite Disney story, so you can imagine my face when I opened this up on Christmas morning. I finished this book in about three days and I remember liking it very much. Ten years later, I'm reading reviews that say the characters don't act like themselves and that it was hard to get through, but I think for kids who don't read or look for that stuff would like this book a lot!
WEIRD book!! All of the lost boys (who have grown up and gotten married) turn back into children (by putting on their children's clothes, because when you put on someone else's clothes you become a different person) and go back to neverland!!! I don't think that I even finished the book!!!
I actually read this book quite along time ago and it was one of the first Peter Pan "adaptions" I had ever read in my life. However, it was not the best of experiences for me personally. I understand that this is technically the official sequel to Peter Pan but it does not read that way. The author doesn't write bad or anything, it just didn't live up and even go along with the original story in a way that suited my fancy. There were certain aspects that I thought were good. However, there was enough of them combined to make me fully appreciate the book.
