Having read and loved the original Peter Pan, I was excited to read the (only) authorized sequel. I have to say, I had a hard time with it. I think the writing style is quite close to Barrie's in tone, and McCaughrean manages to create the same chaotic Neverland environment where anything can happen (and does). However, I got really bogged down and bored halfway through, to the point that I had to put the book down for a couple of weeks and FORCE myself to pick it back up.

I'm glad I did. The story takes some interesting turns and by the end, I was happy I had finished it. So, in the end, I'm glad I took this second trip to Neverland. :)

I'm still going to check out some of the "unauthorized" Peter Pan stories, particularly the ones by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry, which I've heard are really good.
