Nostalgia reread #2. Tbh I didn't remember anything about this except for some very vague notions, and it holds up pretty well. I think if I were a kid I'd probably love it. Even as an adult the character sketches manage to be fairly compelling. It's very careful about permanently changing anything from the iconic original, which means not too much new ground can really be covered, but that's kind of expected.

I don't know why this has such a low average rating - I thought it was a perfect sequel to Peter Pan, and much better than any of the other unofficial spin-off series. I'd have to read it again though to be sure, because it's been a while. o.O

I somehow completely missed this authorised sequel of Peter Pan being a thing so was delighted when I was pointed in its direction.
I loved this edition, I thought the illustrations were beautiful and that it really captured the magic and troubled nature of Peter Pan. I've ordered the full novel to read as well as I hadn't realised that this was the abridged version.

This was a difficult read; considering this is a children's book I am not sure if that is a feat by the author or if it says something about me as a reader. Maybe I expected too much. I had heard so much about the book in 2008, about how it was an OFFICIAL SEQUEAL exclamation point exclamation point one exclamation point.
True, no one can really capture what J.M. Barrie originally created. It is too difficult to fully step into the shoes of another.
It was just hard to choke down read-wise and it took me a LONG time to read this book. I kept putting it down in favor of something else. I finally forced myself to sit down and finish it. I read 142 pages over the course of 3 days. That is pathetic!
I do not recommend this book unless you want to read it just to have read it... like I did.

DNF ... I only had maybe 20 pages left, but I just couldn’t take anymore. I saw this book at the library & thought I’d give it a try. I saw it was the only sanctioned sequel, which sounded pretty legit ... until you realized that it was authorized by the hospital that JM Barrie left the rights to (assumedly so they could make more money ... I don’t begrudge them that, but this book was so poor, it seems they were desperate).
I loved the beginning of this book (the idea that Neverland was haunting the adult Lost Boys’ dreams, beckoning them back to Neverland), but the rest of the book was awful. Peter Pan seemed the same, but the rest of the characters were flat, lifeless & all sounded the same. The plot twists were ridiculous & not twisty in the least. One star seems harsh, because there are some children who would probably enjoy this & I liked the idea ... but it was terribly executed. I’m torn between one & two stars.

I loved the idea of the book...just thought it could have been executed a little better.
