Neskutečně silný příběh. A moc bych tomu chtěla dát plný počet hvězd, ale... na to mě tam štvalo až příliš věcí.

Zaprvé, Valerie snad měla právo na to být sobecká. Proboha, vidíte, čím si prošla? Její přítel zničehonic vystřílel její spolužáky. A pak se zabil sám. A ty ostatní zabil kvůli seznamu, který vytvořila, takže je spolupachatelka, aniž by se jí vlastně kdokoli zeptal. I samotná její rodina ji obviňuje. Ta holčina toho má na svých bedrech tolik, nikdo jí kromě Hielera (zlatíčko) nepomáhá, ale nakonec ji všichni obviní, že je sobec? To jsem teda nepobrala. Valeriina rodina mi neskutečně, ale opravdu NESKUTEČNĚ drásala nervy. A zadruhé, chybělo mi tam nějaké větší vysvětlení. Protože Valerie se snažila vrátit do života, ale jak? Kniha začíná dva měsíce po střelbě. A ona ani jednou nepomyslí na Nicka a neupadne do depresí nebo podobného stavu. To jako tu střelbu a jeho smrt přijala lusknutím prstu během prázdnin? Vzpomínala na něj, ale ani jednou se nějak nezasekla? A šikana Nicka i Valerie byla naznačena vážně jen náznakem. Valerie teda víc, Nick jen tak okrajově. Chybělo mi vysvětlení s Jeremym i Nickovou rodinou. Za to jsem tu jednu hvězdičku strhla.te_m's review against another edition

This book was so refreshing! I have been in a reading slump and this was one book that helped me remember why I love reading. It's such a raw and powerful story that left me wanting more. I love how Jennifer Brown made every one of her characters real, with flaws and specific characteristics. It's great to read a YA book with real life scenarios.

Ugh, I'm struggling to find what to write. Everything I want to say seems too simple or plain. I could feel their pain, their sadness through the book. There were so many confusions, so many emotions running through the characters. In the news, they always show the good part. After such a tragedy, they try to make us believe that somehow everyone has moved on. In reality, they never quite move on from such a tragedy. This book truly expressed that. It showed us the side we don't see, the side we turn a blind eye to simply because it's easier.
They went through something painful together and they didn't fall apart. Not all of them anyway. The ending was truly beautiful. Remarkable.
They all learned together. They grew together. Hate is everywhere but in the end, they learned to not allow it to control their lives and their actions. In a way, I think they were all victims and survivors. Maybe not in the same way or levels. I have a feeling they will eventually get through it. In the end.
