Camus’ writing is absolutely breathtaking, he takes you so deep into the mind of the protagonist who deliberately tries to keep the reader at a distance, creating an internal monologue that is so fascinating. Very philosophical and character focused but amazing.

I finished this book in a single day, entranced in the mundanity and subsequent explosion into chaos that the main character endures. It’s an incredible study of the human mind. Indifference and fear, both reactions to death. Neither right or wrong, but the literal trial of comparing the two viewpoints is what makes this book fascinating. If you choose to believe that the narrator truly is a psychopath, then it must mean you are too. It’s safer to side with him, defend yourself too, but it’s hard to decide.

Nagyon régóta nem nevettem ennyit egy könyvön. De közben nagyon elgondolkodtató volt, egy teljesen más világnézetet mutatott be.

the book can easily be passed off as pretentious word vomit but the last paragraph of this novel is one of my favorite quotes ever i fear
