3/5 This book took me a little while to finish but I would like to say while this book is not my favorite the ending is worth it. It’s definitely not a type of genre I normally would pick but I still think you should give it a shot. The ending is completely worth the struggle of getting through the first half of the book. Out of the 4 other CoHo books I’ve read this one took me the longest but that’s bc of the slow beginning. The book really hooked me when Leeds thought Willow was Sable and then finding out Willow was actually Layla and Sables spirit was stuck inside is really what made me rate the book a 3 and not a 2. Not my favorite CoHo book but I would say that if you like paranormal type stuff you should give it a shot.

“It’s something you would see in a movie.” I hate that line in a book. Minus a star just for that.

One thing to keep in mind while reading this is that Colleen Hoover has been a romance writer for years and is just now starting to branch out and dabble in other genres. That being said, she did a phenomenal job. There were parts where I felt the characters were underdeveloped and I had a hard time relating to the main character, Leeds. Despite that, I love Hoover’s writing and I am excited to see what she does in the future while exploring these new genres!

Though we could argue that it was because Leeds was attracted to Willow that he was willing to stay and help her instead of leaving when they had multiple chances, I want to say otherwise. I felt that when it came to helping Willow, it was really because of their friendship, that he wanted her to move on and not be lonely in the place.
The synopsis mentions Layla's bizarre behavior after the incident, but I can only recall two or three of them. Maybe that aspect wasn't touched much on purpose for the sake of the plot twist revealed at the end, but I wished Colleen had given us a little bit more to make us see just how much Layla's changed--or what has changed.
Speaking of Layla, before the incident, Layla was made to be someone whose thoughts were all over the place with a touch of nonsense. But Willow had a lot of sense and maturity, so it was a bit hard for me to see them as one.
But I guess Willow is Layla because she can't dance.

I really, really liked the pacing of this book. Our leads' relationship is an instalove one, but this time, there's substance instead of mainly lust. Leeds wanted to make Layla happy again, to rid her of the situation they'd just survived, and in the midst of trying to get settled into normalcy, he found himself interested in what started as a curious encounter leading to friendship and possibly expecting more.Though we could argue that it was because Leeds was attracted to Willow that he was willing to stay and help her instead of leaving when they had multiple chances, I want to say otherwise.
