Your feminism and morals have to be left at the door when you read these kinds of books, but I still love them

Wow, this one really tore my heart out. I honestly didn’t know what to expect when it came to Renzo’s book. He was always the funny happy go lucky guy, and then in this book his heart just got destroyed.

It definitely made me cry. Just thinking about what I would do in his situation, I honestly don’t know. It’s a hard choice to make and there are innocent parties that are involved.

Over all I really enjoyed it, thought it did made me cry.

Skylar was ready to die. Yet fate was temped. Can you out run the devil, or will you love the life he gave you? Renzo had one heir, one person he loved. That was ripped away from him. Now will the hunted love the hunter? Or will pain hurt everyone..

Michelle!! I am so proud of you! You have done amazing things! This is chiefs kiss, always! This series is by far my fav. The pain and suffering they both endured became a life line for them both. I was shocked, and yelling at my screen the whole time!!

Anyone else lose count of how many times they read “ever loving hell”? Just me?

I was deeply sad for Skylar the whole time. It doesn’t give romance… it really gives Stockholm Syndrome…

Rating: 3/5

I went into Haunted by a Shadow expecting another intense mafia romance, but what I got was a pretty average read. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t blow me away either.

Characters:
The characters were okay, but I wasn’t particularly invested in their romance. There wasn’t a lot of emotional depth, and I didn’t find myself rooting for them. It was more of an “oh, they got together” kind of reaction. Renzo, as a character, is your typical brooding mafia boss with power issues, and the female lead felt a bit flat. However, there were a few moments of dry humor between them that I appreciated, which helped lighten the otherwise predictable story.

Spice:
The spice level was decent, but one thing really threw me off—considering the fact that the female lead had a kidney transplant less than six months ago, it was hard to buy into their rough sexual intimacy scenes. I kept thinking, “Shouldn’t she still be recovering?” It took me out of the story a bit.

Plot:
The plot itself was very predictable. There wasn’t much in the way of surprises or twists, and everything played out exactly as you’d expect in a standard mafia romance. While it wasn’t bad, it didn’t have that gripping quality that keeps you turning the pages late into the night.

Resolution:
The ending felt rushed and didn’t leave much of an impact. It was wrapped up in a way that felt too neat for the situation the characters were in, and I wasn’t left feeling particularly satisfied by the conclusion.

Overall:
Would I recommend Haunted by a Shadow? Yes, but only if you’re looking for a quick, light mafia romance read. It’s not the best in the series, but it’s also not the worst. If you enjoy mafia romances and don’t mind predictability, this one might be for you. For me, it was a solid 3/5—not great, but not bad either.
