I went into this thinking it would be more of a self-help book but it ended up being a dialogue between a philosopher and student - I loved it. Reminded me of some of my favorite philosophy readings from college, definitely recommend! I didn’t necessarily agree with all aspects of the philosophy/psychology proposed, but some parts are definitely causing me to re-think my approach to life
I wasn't sure what to expect as the reviews were mixed, so I decided to give it a shot. It was an interest approach as the entire book unfolds as a conversation between a young person and an older philosopher. It mainly positions Alderian psychology through many different examples. Some translated well and others were a bit lost on me. I think it was a great read, but I honestly did not get the end result of finding courage in being disliked, I think that was more a catchphrase title. I will probably read it again just to see it through a different lens 6 months to a year from now.
Excellent work but expect a long journey if you want to follow this philosophy. Nothing is free and that includes the gifts you give yourself.
So much privilege. Gems of truth in each chapter, but then spoiled by the denial of trauma and inequity.

I think the message is great but I didn’t love the back & forth dialogue style. Took me forever to read.
Not a fan, couldn’t finish. The attitude in the book was annoying and pretty basic information.
