Interesting philosophy and a very accessible way of presenting it

Don’t worry guys, life is super simple! Your emotions are driven by your goals.

If you have panic attacks every time you leave the house it’s because you want your parents to worry about you ❤️

In all seriousness, there were some interesting points. I don’t disagree with everything…but I don’t have the time to finish a book that I don’t enjoy.

I’m sure the Philosopher in this book would say I disliked this book because I want to cling to my current existence and it’s creating feelings of indignation and defensiveness.

I DO believe people can change and our thoughts affect our perception of reality. I also believe that trauma is real and the mind cannot be explained so simply. People can heal from trauma and change for the better, but it’s not as easy as saying “okay, my goal is now to be well-adjusted. My emotional state will follow my goal and I will now be able handle situations with trauma triggers.”

There’s a possibility this book could redeem itself later on but I think it’s dangerous to suggest that anyone who is struggling wants to be in that state.

Many, many people in mental health crises isolate because they don’t want to be a burden. Disappointing to see authors that perpetuate the idea that someone’s dire situation is due to their own goals and, to quote a chapter title, “Trauma Does Not Exist.”

I did not like the narration or the way the information was presented.
