This was such a lovely collection of poems! I have been following Charly for a while now and was thrilled to see her book in my local library. The poems are divided into four sections: love, madness, body weight (fat), and adulthood. I thought each poem was poignant and reflective of the age group we are in. Some of them honestly really hit home for me, especially as I'm in a season of life where things will for sure be changing soon. I think reading this at the end of a year really was appropriate, haha. Awesome book, highly recommend if you like poetry and are a 20-something.

As a millennial who struggles with mental health and body image (don’t we all??) I found this probably the most relatable collection I’ve read.

My standouts were:

imposter
trump
all I wanted was some toast
funny
‘she must be mad’
bodies
pint-sized
kds
seaweed - for grandad

It’s funny, it’s witty, it’s honest and it’s so raw. ‘she must be mad’ and ‘seaweed’ both moved me to tears, when ‘all I wanted was some toast’ really made me giggle. It’s a really brave collection with beautiful writing.
