This is a fun, dynamic read where the only issue I had was that it was too short.  

Thuan is an adorable dork, his husband bristles with real menace that doesn't hide how much he cares and there's an adorable blood hungry ghost child.

Very highly recommended.

I really hope Aliette de Bodard continues with this series. I love Asmodeus and Thuan, their dynamic and murder mystery shenanigans. I also love dragon kingdom as a setting, the underwater wonder hiding the disease and rot.

The plot was also simple but effective, bittersweet and gothic. And the ending was just amazing.

Love it, but everything is fully Anglicized in this one - no diacritics. And I liked it better with them!

The mystery and the central tensions are a bit meatier than in the previous book in the series. Enjoyably silly with some interludes of nasty emotional traps and dire consequences.
