I spent my evening reading poetry to my cat and I couldn’t be happier (or weirder, to be honest).
poetry and my brain are not friends and reading this on my own bc i had already dropped out and was still barely getting out of my room was the worst way to try and read poetry. and no, i am not picking this back up.
Qu'est-ce qu'on fait quand on déprime ? On lit les fleurs du mal. Est-ce que ça nous aide à sortir de notre dépression ? Absolument pas. Est-ce que ça nous pousse à sombrer encore plus loin et à croire à tord que notre chambre qu'on n'a pas rangée depuis deux semaines n'est pas désordonnée mais juste une romantique réflection de notre mélancolie ? Oui. Est-ce sain ? Non. Va-t-on continuer à le faire ? Oui.
Minus having to use my translator app more times than I care to remember. Because my conversational French is nothing compared to being fluent. Lol! I loved this collection of poems.

i actually think i enjoyed this book.
i mean, reading 100 poems filled with metaphors is honestly demanding, but that feeling when you understand them and therefore like them is definitely worth it.
through those poems, baudelaire shares his deepest thoughts, about evil, beauty, god, humanity— with metaphors as his only filter. he’s doing his best trying to understand this world, just like us.
idk, i like him.
(and let’s be honest, the fact he wrote poems about lesbians emancipation >>)

É denso e difícil. De longe, não é uma leitura para devorar em apenas em um dia, como a maioria dos livros de poesias.
Terão partes chatas e piegas, assim como outras sensacionais. Nem todas me agradaram, mas posso admitir que o tipo de trabalho que Baudelaire fez era bastante ousado para sua época. Ele tem um poder, diferente de tudo o que já vi dentro da poesia, de te fazer enxergar e sentir exatamente o que quer passar.
A tradução me incomodou, e espero poder reler o livro futuramente em outra edição.
Mas fora isso, é um belíssimo livro, que deve se tornar ainda mais fascinante numa segunda leitura.
