It's a bit sad to watch this intense workaholic repeatedly wonder why his marriages keep failing. When you marry someone, you want to see them once in a while. It sort of feels like the lesson of the memoir is that you must choose between professional success or personal/family happiness, a depressing idea.

Really enjoyed Phil Collins' story. And read by mr. Collins himself. Now all I want to do is listen to his songs. And there are a lot of beautiful ones to choose from.

Love him but this did not do much for me

I was impressed by Collins' honesty when telling his own story, which has just as many ups and downs as you would expect from someone who went from playing drums with a friend from school to a front man in a international best-selling band. And to read his own story out loud, that had to be difficult. I wonder if there were times he found himself cringing in the studio as he recounted one of his less-than-brilliant moves.

A fascinating peek behind the curtain of the rock and roll music world, lots of fun anecdotes about Phil and other rockers, and a really entertaining listen.

“No Jacket Required” was one of the five cassette tapes my mom owned in the 1980s. On cross country road trips when I was a kid, that tape played non-stop.

It was interesting to hear about Phil Collins’ life, as I really didn’t know much about it.
