The most beautiful, hopeful book about the families—and particularly women—left behind during WW1. Can be read as a stand alone or, better yet, in tandem with the Anne series

Wow! This book will break your heart and put it back together again. I was so happy to fall back into a book that felt like an "Anne" book, even if it was Rilla at the heart of it. Concluding the series during World War I is such an incredible way to close out a series based on growth. Montgomery is masterful with her characters as usual and it was a joy to watch them learn, mourn, grow, and hold joy together. This was an incredible conclusion to a series that I, for the most part, loved, and I will be thrilled to dive back into its pages again some time in the future.
