The book Marlfox is a book in the Redwall series where Redwall is threatened by a group of villainous foxes called Marlfoxes. In the story they have to go to war with the Marlfoxes and in the end fight off their evil mother queen Silth.

I have not finished this book but so far I give it a 5 star rating because of the suspense and plot twist. My favorite part so far is when the baby moles where trying to bake a pie by sitting in the oven. I like this scene because it is funny. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and fantasy.

I've owned this book forever but I don't remember as much what this one was about. Kudos to Jacques though for going for more than just regular foxes and adding an air of almost-magic into it.
My favorite part of these books is often the food. Anyone else get hungry reading these?

Normally, I am opposed to series introducing villains who are tied to the world's lore, but we only hear about that lore once those villains show up. It takes you out of the story, and to lose that feeling of being in the story is often the first and biggest nail in the coffin. I do not, however, object to stories like this one, because the execution is just excellent. The characters and world feel distinct and fresh, and the new villains introduced are fantastic, especially in their powers and relationships to each other. The plot is unique even though it does tread some similar ground as books past. This book is made in its execution.

2.5 stars.

A fairly lackluster Redwall - very reminiscent in plot and characters of a fair amount of other Redwall books, which detracted from my enjoyment a bit. It's been a few years since I've read one, but this one didn't really strike my fancy all too much. I hope it was just slightly duddy and not that I've outgrown the series.
