Some of the reviews I’ve seen of this made me expect these to be wild and crazy stories, but they were more nuanced. Really enjoyed the writing style, but very confused by the first two stories because it made me think that this was a continuous book?

What a great collection of short stories! I cried for almost every story. Ling Ma’s prose is fantastic. It’s like an abstract expressionist painting, but in story form. It’s less plot-driven and more experience-driven.
