Phenomenal book! There’s some real heavy hitting stories that I enjoyed, it’s actually hard to say which ones are my personal favorites as all of these stories struck different chords. The ones that resonated with me are G, Tomorrow, Returning, Peking Duck, and Oranges- which include common themes of diaspora,  toxic/abusive relationships, and uncertainty. The writing is brilliant and clever, and requires a level of deeper exploration that is hard to fully accomplish if you take continual breaks (which unfortunately I often will do). Overall, I highly encourage the read especially if you’re into the surrealist genre.

Weird and wonderful

intewesting. I feel like I need to talk to someone about this book to fully understand it. I also didn't realize it was a book of short stories until like the third short story. which is embarrassing because it says "stories" on the cover. but also the first two stories are sort of related. idk. I wanna take a drug called G and disappear sometimes.

Not a series of short stories so much as it is a series of short scenes.

The plot, and the characters are not kings here. It's a dreamy surrealism, a feeling of being in a place yet not quite connecting. Feeling like you ought to belong, like there ought to be a correct way of being, but you can't grasp how to do it. Just endless anxiety of not right.

I like this collection but it's like each story has these emotional walls and it feels inappropriate for me to interrogate them, somehow.

Some were misses, some were absolute bangers, but all were written pretty well
