This one reminded me a lot of “Someone Who Will Love You In All Your Damaged Glory” except there was more of a common thread between each story. Some of them take longer to sink in and others have an immediate impact, but each one was insightful.

Something he had once said in a lecture: "It is in the most surreal situations that a person feels the most present, the closest to reality“
A book of stories that feel so deeply creative and enjoyable and silly and dark- Ling Ma continues to write things that are shockingly NEW, but reflective of the ways we’ve always related to each other.

loved! very dreamy and dark and unexpected and sharp!! G and Peking Duck are standouts--Los Angeles and Oranges honorable mention.
The tricky thing with rating short story collections is trying to balance how you feel about each story. I think all the stories in this book go well together and I can see the vision the author had overall, however, just for my reading tastes there were slightly more misses than hits. I am still open to reading more from Ling Ma in the future as the writing itself was good and I liked a couple of the stories a lot.
