Great follow-up to Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Not easy to follow, at times, but the story is first rate, and fans of Batman and the DC universe will be rewarded with plenty of cameos.

2.5 stars. Would have given it just two if it weren't for the wacky humor.

I don't like how Dick Grayson's name felt tarnished. Also there was just action overload in this book.

Whilst not hitting the same sweet spot the first one did, this continuation 3 years down the line picks up the gritty DC world (Earth-31 i think!) that Miller has created and taken the story that could've been a single graphic novel and followed it up by expanding the story to a global event. Batman is annoyingly missing for a good portion of the story, but his presence is felt throughout as you see him become the infallible detective yet again, and seemingly the last remaining hero with true hope. You have to put aside a lot of what you think you know sometimes to appreciate this adaptation of the DC universe, but it's one I findly deeply satisfying and relatable, whilst maybe losing a star for leaning a bit too heavily on the politics of the whole thing

Garbage. Chaotic, messy, lazy, nonsensical garbage. I want to sue Frank Miller for the time I wasted reading this. He should apologise for writing it.

Read this right after finishing The Dark Knight Returns and I have to say I liked Dark Knight Returns a lot better. This is a direct sequel but the feel seemed different from the first book-no where near as strong of a hold on me as the first story was able to fo right away. Still recommend it as a good read for any Batman fan, but I liked the first book better.

I really liked this one in an entirely different way than I liked The Dark Knight Returns. This one reads like satire and a bit of snarl at the genre and the criticism brought to it. (even the "strikes again" title seems a bit tongue-in-cheek)

The world is threatened, as it always is, but most ordinary people seem complacent in their roles as non-heroes and they wait for heroes to save them, while at the same time keeping them under a moralizing scrutiny regarding pretty much everything, from wearing tights to simply being stronger and more capable in many ways - while at the same time not being aware of the fact that those same heroes are exploited for their good. It's a satire on the media, a satire on the internet - and maybe a satire of criticism and the academic splitting of hairs, as well. And it is, as well, a really neat story with solid characters.

I barely remember what this was about seven years after I read it, but I remember thinking it was stupid. I can't help but think this and All-Star Batman and Robin are Frank Miller giving the middle finger to all those fans who've bugged him to return to Batman after Dark Knight Returns and Year One. Stick to your own projects, Frank. Please, for the love of God.
