This one wasn't for me. The time spent setting the stage was not worth the payoff, in my opinion.

Edgar Allan Poe is stunning in the creation of eerie atmospheres that draw you in.

It almost feels like we're going to be swallowed by the book and doomed to be amongst all the bloody revellers for all eternity.

A perfect read for Halloween.
A story of a privileged group, enjoying lavish parties in the middle of a pandemic. (Hmm...)
The horrifying realization that the illness has reached their little safe bubble.
Chilling story, amazing imagery, and a sprinkle of schadenfreude.
