The mystery and political/legal aspects of this book were really interesting - I can see why it is hailed as a classic of its genre. That being said, I hated every single character. I’m not sure how much was intentional on the author’s part, or how much the misogyny, racism and homophobia has NOT aged well since 1987. It’ll be one and done for me for this author.

Really intriguing court procedural that wove in themes of political intrigue as well. I couldn’t put it down.

Slow & boring.

I just could not get into this book. Something about the way that it was written was just not keeping me interested. I usually love legal thrillers so maybe I’ll come back to this at a different time.

Very well written book, showing that these kind of courtroom dramas can be good character studies as well as plot-driven pot boilers. I'm not sure how I felt about the end of the book.
