A Favorite Quote: “”We’re meant to destroy each other,” she whispered, the words pained and agonized. “Then destroy me, little storm.””
Self-written Blurb: In the end, she had become her own villain. Vengeance and Wrath… in book 3 of the legacy series, Tessa takes her vengeance. She dishes out her wrath and fury again and again, all in the name of correcting the balance. But at what cost? Destruction or Salvation. She must choose wisely. As the story unfolds, Tessa wields her playing pieces expertly as if it were a game of chess and she is two steps ahead. The problem with being ahead is you don’t see the check mate that is right in front of you. The one mis-step that will crush what small ember of hope she had left.
What I enjoyed: *slow claps for all of time* I finished this book over a week ago and I haven’t written my review until now because I am honestly speechless. The way that Melissa Roehrich weaves chaos, destruction, hope, vengeance, yearning, and devotion into one cohesive, dark, and twisty story is beyond genius. The banter is *chefs kiss*, the twists were unexpected, the heartbreak was agonizing. I feel like I am right there with these characters, feeling all of their pain and turmoil. How can a story be all about Tessa and yet, not about Tessa, all at the same time? One could say the story is bigger than Tessa and one could say Tessa is bigger than the story. Somehow, it’s both. The third installment of the Legacy series is pure perfection.
Any struggles?: WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE FINAL BOOK!?
Will I recommend and to who: At this point… everyone. Everyone should read this series. (Check your trigger warnings- but if that doesn’t stop you, then just read the series already.) I may have found my new Roman Empire.
So much emotional whiplash in this book. The highs were high and the lows were low.
A lost bond but not all was lost, I had a feeling this was going to be the outcome but it was still a gut punch.
Chapter 41 giveth and Chapter 43 taketh (iykyk). I knew that shoe was going to drop at some point, so I was preparing, but the how and the result…oof that hurt.
My only negative is that I wish there was more suffering and a real grovel from Theon in terms of Tessa’s revenge/vengeance. The ending of book 2 was satisfying but I needed a little bit more and was hoping for that in this book. Especially since Tessa ended up hurting a few others more instead of Theon in the long run. But that’s the messiness and chaos of it all I guess!things don’t always turn out the way they should. It’s inevitable that Tessa was going to make some mistakes and some wrong decisions that caused chaos and turmoil even for herself.
I will say how Theon acts in the end was certainly a turning point though. It’s probably more in line with Theon’s character anyway.
This book gave more Luka and I was living for it. I was team Luka since the beginning (“the fucking flip flops”) and I can’t imagine he won’t always be who I prefer. But I admit, I’m finally accepting of Theon. He finally gets his head out of his ass and opens his eyes to things and there are little moments here and there that endear him. But I think it’s worth saying again that it would have been nice and more satisfying for Tessa to have caused Theon to pay a little bit more for his actions in the previous books, book 1 especially.
I cannot wait for book 4 to see how this all concludes but I’m also sad that it means the series will end. I’m hoping we see them make appearances in another series like some of the LOD characters do in this.

I ate up book 1&2, finishing them both in just a few days. This book…I had to read three other books in between chapters just to get through it. It was frustrating because I genuinely am invested in the story. But Tessa and Luka perspectives were so hard to get through. Instead of becoming a badass, Tessa became insufferable. Were her feelings valid? Yes, but damn the constant whining and blatant stupidity was grating. Theon et al would tell her the exact consequences to her actions and then she’d be genuinely shocked when said consequences occurred. It became so repetitive and irritating. Axel, Kat, and Theon were the saving grace of this book.
