I think this book was so easy to relate to, and all the characters are easy to fall in love with. I will say that I think that certain tragedies should have been directed at a different family to make it more dramatic and saddening; but overall I really did enjoy it, and I'm looking forward to reading more books from Danielle! I picked up this book because it looked like a light, sappy summer read and because I am usually a fan of Danielle Steele. However, this book was HORRIBLE. The writing was bad, the plot lines were weak, and the characters had pretty much no development throughout the story.
**SPOILER ALERT**
Then, Steele started killing off characters!! In a book about 5 friends, I never imagined that only 2 of them would be left by the end. The deaths of such pivotal (not to mention young) characters were not only shocking, but they were also unnecessary. Steele could have done so much more or gone in so many different directions with the plot without killing someone off every 60ish pages!

I didn't like this book at all. It was just a brief, tragic synopsis of 5 kids from the ages 5-23. Terrible. Its like reading a book report I might have done in 8th grade...no emotion, no depth, mediocre writing at best and like most 8th grade reports, it was hard to follow. I actually had to write out a little cheat sheet to keep track of who was who, the parents of each kid and their siblings. A complete waste of time for sure.
I used to read just about everything Danielle Steel wrote until about 15 years ago when I felt like every story she wrote was the same and very poorly edited to boot. Friends Forever is not a typical Daniele Steel novel so I decided to give her a try again. I enjoyed the beginning of the book, I love the premise how five friends meet in kindergarten and become life long friends. But yet again this story was poorly poorly written. I felt as if I was reading the first draft (full disclosure I did have an ARC but from a quick skimming of the finished project at a book store I could tell there weren't many changes). It was told mostly in narration, there wasn't a whole lot of dialogue between the characters which prevented me from every really getting into the storyline. This book was so unbelievably depressing but not once did I find myself feeling anything for any of these characters who were suffering from so much loss. Don't waste your time with this one, I certainly won't be reading anything else Danielle Steel writes.
A story about 5 friends who meet at kindergarten and their lives until their early twenties. It jumps many periods of their lives and centres around key events without ever developing their characters or really telling a good story. One of my least favourite Danielle Steel novels so far.
This book was great. I couldnt put it down, stayed up late finishing it!
Very sad in some parts. Group of 5 begins life together, goes thru many ups and downs but then 1 by 1 they fall apart.. Only 2 remain and they link themselves together in a special way.

Ugh.
I used to like Danielle Steele books. It's been years since I picked one up so thought I would. Oh, it was awful. Terrible story, no real character development. The sentences were barely formed. The only redeeming quality was that it didn't take long to read.

Five friends from kindergarten through adulthood. Well, that is until some die young either from bad choices or accidents. A bit sappy and like a predictable story.
Andy’s death was as if the author got tired of him and finished him off in two paragraphs.

This one took me a bit to get into. There were so many characters introduced at the beginning that I couldn't keep up. I wish that the ending wouldn't have wrapped up as quickly as it did. Overall, I liked the book :)
