Hyperion was an incredible book that ended too abruptly. The Fall of Hyperion was also very good. However, I felt like there was a bit too much "God" in the book, and there was just a bit too much reaching to be profound. That and there were too many plotlines. Does it give some closure to Hyperion? Yes. Is it perfect? No. That having been said, I felt like Simmons did a good job setting up the ending.

I'm not as literate and savvy as some reviewers here--can NOT sum up what I just read as I'm still pondering it. Got a lot of it, but some parts will always elude me. Especially the poetry. Never been patient with it. At least not poetry such as Keats'.

Anyhoo, enjoyed the ride. And, as always, I appreciate sci fi authors who deliberately include people of color in their stories. It's so easy for them not to.
