I enjoyed this book, but as I was reading couldn't help picturing John Cusack speaking the lines. He captures the male anxiety so well, almost better than on the printed page.

Almost half way through and so far I can't put it down. I have to admit I saw the movie first because I love John Cusack. The book is of course better, but as I read I keep thinking how well the movie interpreted the book. Love them both so far...

I saw the movie first and then read the book. And for once, nothing was ruined. A wonderful portrait of a time, a place, a person, a relationship, a way of living and thinking. Funny, moving, delightful. And not even chick lit!

If this was written like the modern show w/ Zoe Kravitz it would be the perfect book
But male Rob was cool too ig

I love a good unreliable narrator. Rob is a shitty, self-absorbed, philandering misogynist. Hornby did a great job of presenting him with all of those flaws and still making him honest and occasionally sympathetic, sort of like watching Party Down's Roman DeBeers for three hundred pages.

Pretty much just like the movie. But it was still a nice read.

"My guts have shit for brains."

I thought this was okay --I've liked other books of Hornby's much more. I am not a big music buff; perhaps were I an avid music listener I'd have enjoyed it more. It was quick and fluid and fluff reading for me, which made it perfect for the airplane.
