One of those rare masterpieces of theory, history, poetry, sociology, and – yes! – science fiction that is simply stunning in its passion, intelligence, artistry, and moral clarity. I know I give a lot of books I love five stars, but DARKWATER is simply in a category of its own. One hundred stars.
Such a tough read. For many reasons. I underestimated it completely and though I ended up liking it, it's a tough text and reading it in english and on my phone on the go was rough… Anyways, I really liked the topics Du Bois discussed and it gave a unique perspective on black history and was definitely a thought-provoking piece of literature.

I thought I’d be too stupid to understand this but it’s written in a really accessible way!
Beautiful writing. An astonishingly clear-eyed analysis of societal ills. I was blown away by "Jesus Christ in Texas" and "The Comet".
