Wow what an awe inspiring book.

The friendship that develops with Anna and Grace is so lovely and just shows it doesn't matter how much of an age gap there is. I have a friend who is in her 80s, we used to go to a patchwork class together and my hubby and I ended up buying a house down her street by coincidence. I've been chatting to her while she wasn't able to go out during the various Lockdowns.

I can relate to Anna a lot, she is struggling with being alone and she like me, was lucky enough to have family and friends that were so supportive. Her relationship with her brother is so sweet.

Tom doesn't make a good impression so I was looking forward to seeing if he changed my mind through the rest of the book.

I love how cheeky and sneaky Grace is and she so transparent when it comes to what she's attempting to do with Anna.

The ending of this book gives mixed emotions. I don't want to say more because I don't want to spoil it for others. The meeting near the end was intense and interesting.

This book is a heartwarming, tear jerking and truly wonderful book, full of smiles, laughter and a bit of sadness.

Stop whatever it is you are doing (except for reading this review obviously) and go get this book. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, a hot contender for my book of the year!

I loved carer Anna from the moment she got off her motorbike dripping wet to visit her new client Grace. This meeting felt serendipitous as Anna is feeling lonely and it seems so is Grace, they could both use a friend. They have each suffered heartbreak, Anna with her husband’s cheating and Grace being abandoned on her wedding day many years ago before marrying her beloved Roy who has since karked it. I love that word and I’m so pleased the author used it.

As they let each other into their lives, imparting secrets and wisdom, they form a bond that worries Grace’s great nephew Tom. Questioning her motives after seeing Anna’s effect on Grace. Little does he know that Grace is sharp as a tack and has motives of her own.

Set in Lowestoft which amusingly is referred to as The Island. I grew up in Chedgrave which is half way between there and Norwich so it was lovely to see Beccles, Great Yarmouth and other places I know well. The author obviously has a soft spot for it as it is viewed through rather rose tinted glasses but childhood memories often make you view places like that.

I picked this book up expecting a nice gentle read, which I got in spades. What I wasn’t expecting was for the characters to feel so real and become such a part of me that I was sad to let them go. This is an adventure featuring two wonderful women and their friendship is the beating heart of the story.

Was expecting this book to be ok but not what I usually read so wasn't expecting too much.

I absolutely LOVED it! A story or unexpected friendship. Even shed a tear
