The series of the Keys to the Kingdom was one of the most creative fantasy series that I have read. The books were a great, light read and the stories were always action packed and adventurous.

The ending wasn't expected which is always a plus and I have to say I would have thought it would have wrapped up on a slightly happier note but it was a great way to finish an amazing series.

I still feel too old for this series, but it was entertaining. Wonderful narrator. Will definitely be buying the books for my nephew when he's old enough. The ending kept to the more whimsical tone of the series, and felt more bittersweet.

The ending got built up to quite a damp squib. It was quite disappointing really. It was almost like Garth Nix had run out of steam or ideas. Have to say not a  series I'd read again and not his best work

I feel like this series had a ton of potential only to completely flop at the end. For me at least. The world building is INCREDIBLE!! Truly unique and imaginative so I was very excited for the whole series. It got a little boring in the middle but I stuck with it. I kind of regret it. The end was such a cop out to me. It was like the author put all this effort into all these books and making this incredible world and then by the end he was like “uhhhhh I’m out of ideas”. I’m not including spoilers but I will say the ending was absolute hot garbage in my opinion.

Nix seemed to run out of ideas in the final stretch. The scope and brilliance of this universe seems to contract, around the titular character who barely features in this entry. All of the loose ends are effectively tied off, but it all feels a bit more from tragic than satisfying.

this book is a quick read, appropriate for a younger audience.
plot wise, very similar to an extended Never Ending Story. a bit disappointing for me, but cute overall.
