I really liked this story. It was short, but the entire horror is covered in mystery. You can only imagine what happened from the consequences after, which I liked a lot, since it leaves the horror to the imagination, which is a lot more effective than describing it. I would recommend this one as a short, efficient horror story.

Very enjoyable. I suspect Lovecraft would be appalled that I want to interpret this as a romance.

As clunky as this story's name might be the story itself is actually one of Lovecraft's shorter and simpler tales. The language is more poetic than eldritch and the horror more subtle. Nothing awful happens, but this works in the story's favour. It is about the unknown, and the part of ourselves that we leave behind us.

I couldn't really say much about the narrative without spoiling it since it is so short, but I enjoyed it in a calm, reflective sort of way. It is a palate cleanser, simple and beautiful yet lacking in depth due to its length. Though from my current experience with Lovecraft's work, I feel that this is probably for the best.
