Oh Wow. Definitely 5 stars for me.
This one is a dark and gruesome post-apocalyptic fantasy read. Some parts really hard to read with gory details and topics that truly exist here in the real world that makes it more disturbing and add to those a female rage revenge subplot and how evil human can be, this book is just pure madness. The magic system is complex yet easy to follow. The characters is unique with amazing prowess and have been through a lot that I can't not root for them. The action, especially those last few chapters was superb, I hold my breath at the edge of my seat, praying they all will survive and dreading what will happen next. Lots mysteries to uncover. Love the twists and turns and surprises along the way. Not a big fan of the pace and there's a scene that kinda unnecessary in my opinion but other than that it's a five out of five stars read for me.
Overall it's a crazy adventure through and through. Totally highly recommended.

This story is definitely 5/5⭐️ potential. I love the plot and magic system. It follows a country were people are discriminated against for being born with power that connects them to the earth. These powerful people, who are NOT treated like humans btw, are known as 'orogenes' (proper) or 'roggas' (vulgar) and they are able to feel, see, start, or stop the earth (earthquakes). Our fmc is as complex as complex gets and we follow her journey from childhood to adulthood. Another notable and eccentric character is this overpowered orogene called alabaster, who is forces to mate with other women to have powerful children for the government (also know as the fulcrum).

As previously stated, it's such a good story and it develops so uniquely that the book definitely feels 5 ⭐️ potential. It tackles real life problems like racism and slavery and discrimination and sexism through this completely made up magic system and world building. The only reason this is not a 5/5⭐️ book for me its because of the confusion the readers go through from pages 0 to 100, and because of the ending. It left in a particularly confusing cliffhanger because it didnt feel like most things were explained. That might be the point so you can be motivated to read the second one, but as a person that prefers standalone titles, this just irritated me. However, this doesn't take away how good the plot was regardless of the slow paced, and how amazing the characters were or how badly they hit home to what goes in the real world.

Between the steep learning curve and the multiple POVs that are very separated from each either, this took me a while to get into, and I'm a little frustrated by the end to not have more answers, BUT I do really enjoy the world and I'm curious enough that I'll definitely keep reading.

Also, if I rusting have to read the word rust one more rusting time, evil earth, rust it all to rust. You can have more than one fantasy swear word, and you don't have to use the same one every page.
