10/10 for girlies in STEM.
I'm a bit upset about the cliffhanger at the end. Other than that, this book was perfection.

I love to see a strong-willed young woman take what she wants despite societal expectations and limitations. Her sheer determination was inspiring from beginning to end.

Despite literally all odds, she kept her sights set on her purpose and never faltered, even when she was falling in love. Even though the romance was a small part of the story, I think this book still did a phenomenal job of reinforcing that love is not the only thing that can be fulfilling, and just because you love someone doesn't mean you should negate yourself.

Less of a love story than the title would lead the reader to believe, but still well written and held my interest. You can tell the author did a lot of research on the era and her medical background shows. Interesting topic of choice. I enjoyed it.

First half was slow - I didn’t like how it took almost half the book for the plot to get to the storyline covered in the back cover synopsis. 2nd half was great & had good pace. Overall enjoyable historical young adult fiction, just a bit inconsistent & definitely young adult.
I love Dana Schwartz & loved the author conversation as a bonus to the audiobook.

that was amazing omgomgomg :))))) 19th century scotland, a horrible disease roaming around, a girl studying to be a surgeon and buying corpses to study on from a resurrection man?!? the vibes!! the suspense of the story was incredible. the author really created the most jaw dropping intense villain too. the cliff hanger?!?!?!? the love story?!? :DD. picking up the second one right now!
