A bit of a slow start but a compelling read. I loved the setting of Edinburgh, and seeing the protagonist's growth.

As I write this I am sobbing because this book broke me in all the best ways. It reminded me a lot of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series which I loved but it also had its own distinct features. I would sell my soul to read this book for the first time again.

I just really think historical fiction isn’t for me. There was nothing wrong with this book, but I just did not enjoy it very much. I don’t know if I’ll read the sequel..
