OMG! The ending is intense! Luckily I have all the faith in the world in Loki and I know I'm not going to have to reach into the book and punch him at the beginning of the next one.

Now that I've gotten that out of my system I'll tell you about the many reasons I love this book. The descriptions! The way Ms. Xuemei X depicts her scenes are an artform all on their own. The pictures her words create are magical and I don't only see the scene, I can smell it and feel it too. Then there are the entertaining interactions between the characters. The banter is humorous and makes me giggle. I love the nicknames and the way she even makes the heat not just sexy but fun. It has a lightness that I really appreciate. Next are the characters themselves. They are complex and a wonderful blend of vulnerable and fierce. They can stand on their own two feet and save the world but they are so much better when they have their people around them. The relationships between not just the main characters but also the side characters always reminds me of how the world is a better place because we aren't alone.

As for this story itself, it's the perfect example of all those things. Loki and Tessa are sexy, mysterious, secretive, sexy, and hilarious. This installment of their story has all the excitement and laughter that I love and some twists and turns that kept me guessing. As others have said, this one has a killer cliffhanger at the end and the next book isn't going to be released for a while. However, I'm from a time when it was common for there to be a year or more between book releases in a series and I've always loved going back and re-reading the entire series when the next book comes out. That anticipation feels me with joy. I love knowing that my favorite authors are also living their lives and maybe writing other stories that I may love. This series, and really anything by Meg, is well worth the wait and I'll be anxiously anticipating all her books.

The situation with Helen made me really uncomfortable. Her character really skewed my enjoyment of this book. But at the same time I really enjoyed Tessa’s character. She felt really powerful to me. So I’m not really sure what to rate this.

Plotwise, it was interesting and action packed. But some inconsistencies and wack writing threw me off like the blood contract suddenly showing up when it should've been there since the first book, trial rules of can't use magic but somehow FMC still can, etc kept making me want to stop reading at times. Ending cliffhanger was great though.

So in love

This author has made me fall absolutely in love with not just 1 of her series but 2! I love her writing, I love the characters, the world building and the imagining that comes with them. I am onto book 4 but as always every book in this series and Half Blood Academy is action packed, spicy and all over a really amazing read!
