I liked this book more at the beginning than I did at the end. Frankly, it really did become gobbleygook. That being said, I intend to use this book in my ECRTR sessions and here is why: It is perfect for explaining all the fun things letters can do. I want kids seeing the symbolism of a bee standing in for "B."

Oooh, this is a book you're going to want to read at the beginning of the year to talk about the power of letters and words. Perfect for intro to Reader's and Writer's Workshop.

Oh, the power of letters! String them together and you get words; move those words around to form sentences. Is there anything more transformative than that?! This delightful picture book opens with the sentence "Letters hold magic." and then goes on to explain why those squiggles on paper are so magical. The text changes size, color and style to reflect certain words, making this a visual delight as well as a lovely celebration of the power of language. Young readers will enjoy this on their own and as a read aloud, and teachers will find it to be an excellent classroom resource.

I really enjoyed this one. It’s all about the power of words and magic of the letters that create them. This is a fun book for those just learning the meaning of the written word.
