I dont think this should be a 4 in life (its a 5), i think this was a 4 for my preference of book. Absolutely loved the ending!!!

I didn’t think I would want to read the second book because I felt that Lauren’s religion was culty and I wasn’t a fan of

her getting with a man her father’s age just because they were the only 2 not coupled up

. But now that I’m done I am excited to read the next book and find out what happens.

It’s scary to read a dystopian novel set in 2025. Especially when California did burn this year. However, it’s refreshing to see a strong, black female protagonist leading the charge. I loved the dual symbolism around fire with both destruction and rebirth. Also wanna try acorn bread, it sounds kinda amazing
