For some reason, I'd always kind of dismissed this book as one of those insanely overrated popular books. Finally, I decided to test that assumption and read the book as an adult, and I'm glad I did. Was I ever wrong! This is a charming classic, certain to charm adults as well as engage the imaginative, worldy child. We know what happens when you ass u me...Now to check out other Madeline books.

It's a good book that's just the right length to use for story time. It keeps them entertained and can open up a great discussion. Whether they ask you what an appendix is or ask why the rest of the girls started crying, they are bound to start talking about the book.

"In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lives twelve little girls in two straight lines . . . and the smallest one was Madeline." Madeline might be the smallest, but she is also the bravest. She faces scary rodents, wild animals, and even surgery!
Though she frequently frightens Miss Clavel, her caretaker, Madeline is an inspiration to children of all ages as she goes about her adventures with courage and valor. Bemelmans' classic tale teaches its readers that just because your tiny doesn't mean you can't be brave.

My plan is be able to read entire books in French. I did it in college but that was a so many years ago. So... here’s my start. My first book read in French since college. One down... many more to go.

Read this to Kaleb and well she really listened and let me finish the book. So I guess she really liked it. :)
