What did SHE do and what did HE do and why aren’t the newlyweds confiding in each other? A fast paced, psychological popcorn thriller featuring a just married couple embarking on their honeymoon, with a few flashbacks from the past. The main female character, Chloe, is insecure and very suspicious of why her (unlikable to me) husband, Dan, changed up their plans and is forcing her to stay at a destination not of her choice. There were many unbelievable moments due to Chloe’s nativity which had me rolling my eyes and wanting to have a stern talk with her, but overall that helped further along the plot and the ultimate twist. The narrator was great, made for an easy and quick listen in less than a day.

Your average thriller. I didn't think it was too bad, but likely won't ever re-read it. It definitely had a few more twists and turns than I had expected, which pleasantly surprised me.
This was a quick read. I listened to the whole audiobook in one day and it kept me interested the whole time.

Chloe and Dan meet, and Chloe thinks she has met the man of her dreams. On the way to the honeymoon, she starts to question if Dan is the man of her dreams or the devil of her nightmares.
I loved the premise and plot of this book. This was a fast paced domestic thriller that I flew through. There was good tension and lots of suspense buildup. There were twists that I did not predict. I also enjoyed the narration by Naomi Frederick. On the other hand, I disliked both main characters, which makes it hard to root for someone. I usually like to have someone I can cheer on throughout a book. Chloe annoyed me with the way she rationalized everything her husband, Dan, did. She constantly doubted herself and repeatedly ignore her intuition. I found myself repeatedly yelling at her and her thoughts and decisions.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a quick thriller with a lot of holes in the plot. While I enjoyed the ending, it was predictable and the first 80% of the book just took too long to muddle through. I'm glad I received this on audio from NetGalley, since that made it easier to digest quickly, if it had been a physical copy I may have moved this to DNF just given the pace of the actual storyline.

Thank you Netgalley, Rona Halsall and Bookouture Audio for the audio arc of The Honeymoon
Narrated by Naomi Frederick.
I found this audiobook well paced and Naomi Frederick suited this book very well. She has a lovely storytelling voice which helped the characters pop out of the page.
The narrative itself has medium paced but felt it dragged on a little in the middle and picked up at the end with the pay off. Chloe and her newly married husband Dan, very clearly has a toxic relationship from the off. It is a trope that does pop up fairly frequently in these domestic thrillers. I can see why this can be a bit frustrating for some readers, but I still enjoyed it. I did like the ending and I felt that this would make a nice summer beach read.
3.25 and round down to 3 stars for Netgalley/Amazon/ Waterstones

🎧 Oh holy god if Chloe was a real person I might throttle her… for the first two thirds of the book that is. The constant second guessing and not seeing what’s right in front of her got exasperating. It is a slow burn for sure but the pace ramps up for the last 1/4 of the listen and it got interesting and definitely got my attention. But then the big reveal was underwhelming and a little silly. It was an ok enough listen when you got into the nitty gritty.

The Honeymoon focuses on Chloe & her very short romance with Dan before they get married only to quickly realize she knows almost nothing about him. I was entertained most of the time, but there were some plot holes & both Chloe & Dan made the worst decisions 90% of the time it seemed. It’s not a book I’d read multiple times, but even with any complaints I had, I enjoyed the ending very much. The narrator did a great job & it never felt monotonous.
I’ll be honest here and say that the stunning cover is what initially drew me to this book! I’m happy to say that the contents did live up to it though. The Honeymoon follows Chloe as she sets off on her honeymoon with her new husband Dan. She finds out at the airport that they’re not going where she thought they were going which makes her anxious but she trusts her husband so off they go! We then find out that Chloe has only known Dan a very short time and perhaps doesn’t know him as well as she thought she did! I loved this as a set up for a novel and was intrigued about Dan from the start. Poor Chloe has no idea what awaits her on this honeymoon and she soon finds herself in a nightmare situation. I was rooting for her to find a way to get through things because I really liked her. Me and my husband pretty much moved in together as soon as we met so I know what it’s like to fall in love and move at lightning speed in a relationship so I was totally with Chloe even when I was anxious about some of the decisions she made. This was a fun, gripping and very fast-paced novel, and I’ll definitely be looking out for Rona Halsall’s other books in the future!

Thank you to the author and published for a copy of this audible book.
I enjoyed this domestic noir/ mystery. It has more plot twists and turns than a fairground waltzer which kept it at a good pace. However the plot was a bit predictable in places and the feminist in me found myself frustrated with the main character for putting up with it all!!
