This one started a little bit slow, but once it took off it went all out. There were some very unexpected plot points and oh man I did not expect to feel as much as I did reading this. Next time I need my heart broken and put back together I'll pick up another Emma Mills.

About halfway through, I was at a “where is the plot in this book” point, but then, once it all started coming together I got it. Definitely more character-driven and I thoroughly enjoyed the characters. Really sweet.

Fantastic!! Charming, warm, fun, geeky & swoony.

Idk what is with Emma Mills’ books but every time I finish her books, I want to turn right around & reread them....actually I know what it is about her books that make them loveabe: relatable characters, amazing friendships & slow burn romance!!

4.5 Stars!

I know I know my first non-five Star Emma Mills... I still loved it so much!! I loved Sophie and I loved August but it didn’t hit me as hard as her other ones did until much further in. It was a slow moving plot in the beginning and it took me a lot longer to love Sophie’s friends in the way I loved the characters in This Adventure Ends and Foolish Hearts. I also missed the fandom nods she usually has in her books as well as the present-parents aspect that usually set her books apart. I still adored reading it and Emma still remains my favorite contemporary author. There were multiple twists in this I didn’t see coming, which was refreshing coming from a contemporary. All in all, a great and sweet read.

This was a really fun read. I really like the whole small town concept and I loved that Sophie and her friends were so close and in marching band together.
However the ending did seem a little rushed and wasn’t really a satisfying one. I feel like there could have been more story to go off of.
Overall I did like this book and will be reading more Emma Mills books in the future.

I was surprised at how much this one got to me right before the end! I really enjoyed the cast of characters and how this MC felt totally different than in Mills’ other books. Sophie was hopeful and sure of herself throughout and I found it very refreshing.

This book is a delight and exactly what I didn’t know I needed right now.

3.5 stars — a cute story if you need a good palette cleanser!
