Maybe just not my kind of book, but I couldn't finish ... A very detailed description of the politics of another world, very technical descriptions about the space ships and weapons... the emotional world of the female character (only 1, for as far into the book as I got) is basic.
Auch wenn das Buch ziemlich viel Physik enthalten hat und ich davon absolut keine Ahnung hab, hab ich es in etwa verstanden.
Absolut unfassbar, was der Autor für Recherchen betrieben haben muss, um so ein Buch auf die Beine zu stellen. Ich bin absolut fasziniert davon. Tolle Arbeit und eine harmonische „Welt“.
Die Charaktere waren genial ausgearbeitet und harmonierten super zusammen.

I think I would have liked this a lot better if it was a Short Story instead...
Slow start, weirdly technical at points, and the ending is a classically goofy Asimov flourish.

Classic sci fi. We see an everyday earthman drawn into galactic intrigue.
This was hard to choose a star rating for. While I absolutely love the story and am eager to read more of the rebellion, there were two major draw-backs for this book for me. There was the insta-love which I almost thought we escaped. I thought we'd just get a slow evolution of the romance over the story, and then almost out of the blue, she'd declaring love. Then there are the twists that the character (whose head we were in, mind you) suddenly announced as if he'd figured them out near the beginning of the story. Only one of which seemed to have some foreshadowing (though without him seeming to notice), while the other only had a hint of him having alternate plans before they were sprung on us.
Those are the two reasons this only gets a three star rating. Still very much worth the read, IMO.

Apart from the cliched ending and the typical role of a girl of just being a love interest, pretty interesting story.
I just don't see though how the present empire of Tyranni morphed into Tyrantar of the next book! Feels like a transitory phase is missing!

With this book, I continue to find that Asimov is great with writing robots and world building, but not so much with humans. When they are the focus, his stories feel more shallow and boring.
