I adored this duology, the magic and the friendships made. I can easily say I'll be reading more books by this author in the future.

Another solid MG fantasy. I think I prefer this to the first surprisingly?! It was well written. The characters were much more compelling with the exploration of childhood trauma being complex and well written. The themes are more nuanced and complicated. It's exactly what I love in MG- books that don't condescend to kids while also representing them and allowing for their voices to be heard.
(Also yes another Babel recovery book)

This book just hits so different

Uh, yeah, I freaking LOVE the Mystwick books!! This sequel did NOT disappoint. There were so many interweaving plot lines but they all made sense and played wonderfully off one another. I loved seeing Amelia interact with Jai (of course!) and Darby (who is actually a softy!) as their friendships developed. I thought the mystery of the Midnight Orchestra, the return of "the real Amelia", and the themes of belonging, self worth, grief, and anger created a story that was both playful and suspenseful. If there is another book in this series (or another two, or three, or ten!) I will 100% be picking them up!!

Also have to mention that I laughed out loud at several parts, and I don't laugh very often at books!

i loved it! pretty amazing reveals and more in depth about Amelia's emotional turmoil, loved the whole composing lessons and her found family. i love the audiobook experience the most, don't think it's as fun if I just simply read it, without all the music which made me feel like I'm there or watching a movie, gorgeous! also am just in awe from the magic system, I just love how unique it is!
