Reading these books again has been a pleasure and a joy. I'll probably be rating all of them five stars, thank you very much.
"The Lives of Christopher Chant" tells the story of Christopher Chant's childhood, particularly his adventures in the Place Between and the other worlds he finds through valleys therein.
I loved learning how Chrestomanci (at least the Chrestomanci we met in "Charmed Life") came to learn of his extra lives and the magical powers that went along with being a nine-lifed enchanter. I'll definitely be reading the rest of Diana Wynne Jones' Chrestomanci series.

Christopher and Millie are my parents now, absolute soulmates, I would die for them, they made me believe in love.
Christopher is such a little shithead and I love him.

It was very interesting to reread this and, even though I remembered ultimately what was going on, I didn't remember how it had happened and so it was a fun re-adventure. Ultimately, I adore this installment of the series and been having great fun rereading it after 13 years.
Read this book in a single sitting. Absolutely could not put it down. What a fabulous story, and a fabulous character. While the first book in the Chrestomanci series wasn't quite satisfying, this one was everything: exciting, interesting, fast-paced, wonderful character development. Loved every bit of it.
an entirely engrossing adventure, makes me want to devour the other books in the series
Man, these books REALLY hold up even now that I am grown.
The only thing this book really needs is a hip new cover to attract a new audience. It's seriously one of the best fantasy books I've ever read, but the fact that it's older and the cover isn't appealing unfortunately discourages kids today from discovering its awesomeness. This is one to read again and again and would make a great read-aloud.
