I can't believe it took me this long to finally read this. I really liked the movie and the book is even better.

Racist and sexist according to the time it was written. If you can ignore all that it’s remarkably well-written.

a really cool concept that slowly devolves into a racist+sexist shitshow. i am truly blown away by how fucking horrendously the one black character+the one female character were written

The next book in my Michael Crichton readathon with my high school freshman - and we've yet to find one of his novels we didn't like.  This one was especially creepy and suspenseful, and it was really fun to watch the film adaptation (Dustin Hoffman! Samuel L. Jackson! Sharon Stone!) after we finished the book.  And as with Jurassic Park, we both agreed they did a pretty decent job of adapting the story to the screen.

Michael, you're my guilty pleasure. Immediately after one of yours I run to something more literate to assure myself robust characters and logical plots do exist. Kinda nutty the way you write great stories so badly.

Another fantastic read by Crichton! Kept me turning the pages and loved the setting, atmosphere, and sense of dread. Highly recommend!
