i loved reading about kelly’s quiet confidence in everything she did. she also spoke openly about her flaws and mistakes while not beating the crap out of herself or over explaining. i was inspired by her self assuredness

I know she's said she had a ghostwriter (which is fine) but this book had a distinctly boomer-istic tone to it that was fine, sometimes. But at other times it was very?? What? Why did this need to be included in the book?

More specifically:
— what felt like a whole chapter on working with known pedophile Woody Allen
— what felt like a whole chapter recounting 9/11
— her late in life reflections on being spiritual and woo woo, despite never having any interest in religion

the last 30ish percent of the book really fell off for me. not because of any of the Gilmore Girls stuff (it was fine, it's about what I expected. nothing too interesting or major). but because of everything else! the booo felt a lot more shallow and also like it was trying a lot harder to impress the meaning of her life upon me.

idk, it's a celebrity memoir so I didn't have too high of her expectations but this still didn't really do it for me

A very good celebrity memoir. I found her early life/career fascinating and, of course, enjoyed hearing her talk about Gilmore Girls. Appreciated her frankness, spunk, and confidence. Definitely listen to the audiobook! Honestly just love to listen to her voice.
