The writing style was so easy to read and I really enjoyed the pacing and plot of the book. Sometimes I wanted to knock eilis on the head, especially in the last part but I'm glad it ended the way it did. I thought homesickness and loneliness was captured really well in the beginning of the novel. As well as grief in the middle.
Moderate: Fatphobia, Body shaming, Grief, Death, Sexual content, Alcohol, Vomit, Xenophobia, Toxic relationship, and Infidelity
Minor: Classism, Sexual harassment, Xenophobia, and Racism

This was a fantastic book, although I think I enjoyed the movie more. I definitely got more of a sense who Eilis was in the movie. I think the biggest shock for me was in the book, I really don’t know that Eilis ever loved Tony, considering the movie, for me, was a beautiful love story.
